Camp Foxtail, located in the Toiyabe National Forest, provides Girl Scouts ages 8-17 with traditional resident camp experiences. Programs encourage leadership through activities such as hiking, biking, rock climbing, high and low adventure courses, singing, arts and crafts, and campfires. Girls must be a registered member of Girl Scouts to attend Camp Foxtail. Membership is $30 annually and can be purchased at the time of registration.
Camp Foxtail was established in 1949, and is a year-round Girl Scout camping facility operated under a special use permit with the U.S. Forest Service. The temperature at camp is cool at night and early morning, but can get to 85 degrees during the day in the summer months. Base camp is at 8500' with the highest unit at 9000'. Camp Foxtail is accredited by the American Camping Association.
Hudlow Hall - Consists of a large central room with a fireplace, gas heating and lighting. Kitchen has a stove with an oven and grill, a convection oven, one refrigerator and limited cooking equipment. Mattresses for 30 people; tables and chairs for activities/meals. There is also hot and cold water, and a one-person bathroom with a shower. Sleeps 30; day use 150 people.
Chip Cabin - Cement block cabin with gas heat and lighting. Bathroom facilities are located within the unit - short walk from the cabin. Sleeps 10 people; day use 10 people.
Dale Cabin - Cement block cabin with gas heat and lighting. Bathroom facilities are located within the unit - short walk from the cabin. Sleeps 10 people; day use 10 people.
Nut Hut - Wood cabin with electric heat and lighting. Bathroom facilities in the Aspen unit during winter. Sleeps 8 people; day use 8 people.
Aspen Unit - Consists of four cabins that sleep 10 people each. Bathroom facilities are located within the unit - short walk from the cabins.
Picnicking - Groups may picnic at Camp Foxtail by making advance reservations at the Service Center. Groups must leave by 5:00 PM. Unless reserved, facilities other than Aspen unit bathrooms are not available for picnic use.
Outside Cooking Area - Available with reservation of any other unit or day use/picknicking. Hot and cold water is available in the Aspen Unit during winter. Tables and benches. Outside fire ring.
